Launching the restoration and rehabilitation workshop of the Bazerkan Market in Tripoli


A ceremony to launch the project of Bazerkan Market in Tripoli

Under the patronage of Mr. Issam Fares, Deputy Prime Minister, represented by Dr. Paul Salem, Fares Foundation General manager, the Municipality of Tripoli organized a ceremony on Tuesday June 10th, to launch a project aiming at refurbishing the Bazerkan Market in Tripoli. The project, financed by Fares Foundation and elaborated by the Ministry of Culture, seeks to reinstate the cultural glory of the old city of Tripoli. The event was attended by Minister of Culture Dr. Ghazi Aridi, who delivered a speech conveying much gratitude to His Excellency Mr. Issam Fares for his initiative which sets an example to be followed by concerned entities. The head of the Municipality of Tripoli General Samir Shaarani, in his turn, praised the patriotic spirit of his Excellency Mr. Issam Fares, as well as his true concern for Tripoli and his genuine devotion to a policy of social and economic development in a country which is presently in need, more than ever before, for bona fide commitment and dedication from its people. Dr. Paul Salem delivered a speech on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Issam Fares, lauding the loyal citizens of Tripoli, especially the dwellers and merchants of the Bazerkan market. He also commended the efforts of General Shaarani, the head of the municipality, acclaimed the plan ratified by the ex-Minister of Culture Mr. Ghassan Salame and called upon the current Minister of Culture Mr. Ghazi Aridi to enhance the cooperation between the Ministry and Fares Foundation in order to promote the old city of Tripoli which became a center of attraction for visitors and tourists. In his turn, the executive engineer Jean Yassmine presented the different implementation phases of the project.
